Cutting-edge presentations complemented by future-oriented discussions – the BrainBusiness event has brought together interested representatives from academia, healthcare, and industry for the sixth time to foster interdisciplinary exchange. On October 15, the Neuroscience Science Hub at Ruhr University Bochum, together with MedEcon Ruhr and the Agentur GesundheitsCampus, welcomed around 70 participants to the ZESS research building. For years, Ruhr University Bochum has been among the leading institutions in basic neuroscience research. But how can scientific findings be translated into practice more quickly and effectively? This question is at the heart of the „BrainBusiness“ format, which specifically seeks to foster dialogue between science, healthcare, and industry. The event shares the latest findings from basic research while also presenting concrete applications from the business world. This year’s focus was on the topics “New Approaches in the field of Biomarkers and Bioanalytics for Neurological Diseases” and “Expectations, Perception, and Behavior: Foundations for Therapies for Psychosomatic Symptoms and Pain.”

The latest edition of BrainBusiness once again demonstrated the importance of this bridge-building effort. The range of topics discussed spanned from fundamental mechanisms of expectation formation in communication and pain, through MRI-based biomarkers, to personalized therapy approaches and digital health solutions. The lively discussions and presentations provided valuable impetus for all participants – from researchers and clinicians to industry representatives. We look forward to BrainBusiness 2027.
A big thank you to all speakers and participants!
